Letter from the Editor
Dear Readers,
I have always felt that there is something to be learned from everything life throws at us, good or bad. Nature has taught me some of the most important lessons in my life. Lessons about endurance, change, and growth. Lessons about coping with the darkest periods in our lives, knowing that there is always a season of rebirth, comfort, and warmth to follow. As I get ready for spring this year, these are lessons that I find myself holding onto. If you’re anything like me, 2021 hasn’t been the easiest year, but it’s only made me appreciate the things 2022 has brought even more.
The editorial team at Glassworks is happy to share our latest issue with you, Issue 24. We hope that in the pages of our magazine, you’ll find reminders of the lessons that you’ve learned throughout life. In this issue, you’ll read prose and poetry about love in all its forms and how it stands the test of time. You’ll read pieces that highlight the raw and often bizarre nature of human existence. We hope that some will bring you joy, and others will remind you that empathy is an essential human emotion.

In building our spring issue, we also stumbled into an accidental theme surrounding climate change. Our cover art “One Tree Remains” by Guilherme Bergamini captures that theme in a single, powerful image. As the art, poetry, and prose in this issue remind you of the beauty found in the natural world, don’t forget to do more than just admire it. Preserve that beauty so that generations of artists and writers to come have something to capture as well.
I’ve had the pleasure of working for Glassworks for two issues and I’m very proud to share our latest spring issue with all of you. I don’t take it for granted that I’ve gotten the chance to work with this amazing and talented team of editors. I’ll be completing my graduate work this Spring, and I know my time at Glassworks will follow me for the rest of my life. I’m especially grateful for our editor-in-chief, Katie Budris, but also for the rest of the team who have made working for Glassworks such an enjoyable experience.
I hope that you find that joy in the pages of Issue 24. I hope that you learn something about yourself and others.
