Encaustic Painting
Kari Hall

Encaustic Painting by Kari Hall - The Year of Roses from Kari Hall on Vimeo.

Kari Hall (Guziec) was born and raised in the Chicagoland area and earned a BA in Visual Communications Design from Purdue University. It was there Kari was first introduced to encaustic painting and has kept her concentration on developing work in this medium. She worked successfully as a graphic designer for ten years before leaving to pursue her passion as a full-time artist in 2014. Her work has been shown in many galleries primarily in the Midwest and East Coast. Now based out of the Houston area, when she isn’t in the studio painting, she is spending time with her husband Drew, daughter Rosie, and Bloodhound Harvey. Find her on Instagram at @karihallstudio and on the web at: http://karihall.com/

This video depicts her artistic process following the creation of an encaustic painting from beginning to end. Encaustic is a painting method where color-pigmented beeswax is melted, applied to a surface and reheated to fuse the paint into a smooth or textured finish.
